Elizabeth, Great idea! I didn't know the kitchen accepted homegrown stuff. Maybe I'll get so motivated next year as to plant a bed for that purpose. Grand plans. This summer I'm lucky to get to the Cathedral at all - we've been going out of town so much. Saw an ad on Facebook the other day for a gallery in Skagit valley and wondered if it was yours. Fantastic Derek! I too have dreamed of agrarian bliss and attempt to cover my very small urban patio with some vines and vegetables to quench that thirst. I am glad to hear others are in the same boat and that you boys are dabbling in your small piece of bringing the land back to the people of the city who have forgotten it. Cheers and good eating!

Douglas, Thanks. I didn't know the distinction on shotguns v. rifles. Regarding hunting on Cypress I've seen the Island Express charter drop hunters off there and pick them up with deer, so it's probably a good bet for you. Almost the whole island is a park, with very little traffic/roads/cabins. I've recently started eating fish after 15 years of vegetarianism, so maybe deer are next, especially if they keep eating the fruit trees and natives we're planting at our cabin. But I doubt it.

For what it's worth - rifes are not allowed in San Juan County for hunting. Shotguns and handguns are which have a shorter range ( for safety).

I understand your point, even though I hunt on the Olympic Pen. I get jumpy hearing shots close to our cabin.

I found this on a search for hunting on Cypress Island as I had interest in the isolation of the location. Hope not to disturb your experience in the pursuit of mine - and I went from vegetarianism to hunting for natural raised food.

This is all so true! I totally see you as Max in Rushmore. I think you handle your abundant life just beautifully, and I'm thrilled that I get to play a small part in it from time to time.(Did Max have a groupie/sidekick? I can't recall.)
